My name is Shannon, and for the past 38 years, I’ve shared my life with my husband, Jerry. Our journey together has been filled with laughter, love, and an unyielding passion for dogs. From our first puppy, a scrappy little border collie, to the chihuahuas and rescue mixes that have filled our home since, our lives have always been enriched by the furry companions we’ve welcomed into our hearts.

As the years rolled by, our bond with our dogs deepened. They became not just pets but family members, and we cherished every moment with them. Yet, we often noticed a common thread among our friends and family: the anxiety of leaving their beloved pets when they traveled.

That’s when the idea struck us: why not create a boarding facility where dogs could stay while their families were away? A place that felt like home, where they could play, relax, and be loved just as we loved our own. Jerry and I, fueled by excitement and determination, decided to build this facility ourselves.

We started sketching plans on napkins during dinner, envisioning spacious play areas, cozy sleeping quarters, and lots of outdoor space for our four-legged guests to romp around. Our weekends turned into DIY marathons, filled with trips to the hardware store and afternoons spent hammering nails, painting walls, and creating a safe, inviting environment.

Our kids thought we were a bit crazy at first, but as they saw our enthusiasm, they jumped in to help, too. We transformed our building into a vibrant dog paradise, complete with indoor/outdoor runs and a large outdoor grassed and turfed play area. We could hardly wait to welcome our first guests.

Finally, after months of hard work and dedication, our dream became a reality. We opened the doors of “Bark and Stay Lodge,”.

Jerry and I have found a purpose that goes beyond ourselves, and our hearts are full as we provide a loving home for every precious pup that comes our way. After all these years, the adventure is just beginning, and I couldn’t imagine sharing it with anyone but Jerry. Together, we’ve built more than just a boarding facility—we’ve created a sanctuary of love, laughter, and tails wagging in delight.
